Engineer Linda Lefler pursuing MFA in fiction

Forty years after earning her industrial engineering degree at Dal, Linda Lefler (BEng'85) returned to pursue an MFA in Fiction at King’s. Exploring how engineers are portrayed in literature, she's been inspired by a former mentor with shared connections — who may even get a cameo in a future novel.

In Linda's words: I was touched when I went to classes at King's and found myself in the G. Peter Wilson Student Faculty Common Room in the New Academic Building. Peter Wilson (BEng'62) was the popular Head of Industrial Engineering when I was a student, and he was known as a teacher, mentor, businessman, and a person who built bridges between educational and industrial communities. It turns out, he attended King's while doing his Certificate of Applied Science before he went to TUNS (now аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±). It felt fitting to learn and workshop creative writing close to the portrait of my former teacher, also a multidisciplinary engineer. Maybe he'll get a cameo in my novel.
