Imagine a Convocation-like ceremony, but for celebrating achievements at work.

新澳门六合彩开奖's annual Legacy Awards event fits the bill nicely, bringing the university community together to recognize faculty and staff for excellence in research, teaching, workplace safety, and service throughout their careers.

The Legacy Award itself 鈥 handcrafted by local artists 鈥 is a stylized water droplet signifying the ripple effect one person can make. First awarded in 2018 as part of 新澳门六合彩开奖鈥檚 200th anniversary celebrations, the droplets have since been presented to more than 255 faculty and staff across campus.

鈥淭he answer that I keep coming back to [about what makes 新澳门六合彩开奖 so remarkable] is that, here, we change what鈥檚 possible for the world in great ways,"听said 新澳门六合彩开奖 President Kim Brooks at this year's celebration on Tuesday (Dec. 17).

"We do that by supporting people in realizing potential and possibilities in themselves that they might not otherwise have seen, known about, or been brave enough to explore,鈥澨 she said. 鈥淓very single person on this campus contributes to that positive difference and today we get to acknowledge and recognize more than 40 of you.鈥

Coming together

While Faculties, departments and units have their own award ceremonies throughout the year that contribute to their local cultures,听Grace Jeffries-Aldridge, 新澳门六合彩开奖鈥檚 vice president, people and culture, emphasized the unique role of the Legacy Awards.

鈥淭hey bring us together to highlight one another and showcase our strength as a 新澳门六合彩开奖 community.鈥

In addition to the awards, the celebration featured a warm welcome from Elder Ann LaBillois and a student quartet from the Fountain School of Performing Arts.
