About the opportunity

The Departments of Pediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynaecology at 新澳门六合彩开奖 and the IWK Health Centre are seeking applicants for one faculty position in the Perinatal Epidemiology Research Unit (PERU). This position is a tenure-stream, full-time faculty position with a joint appointment in both departments (50% in each department). Academic rank and remuneration will be commensurate with experience. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2026.

PERU comprises three full-time PhD-trained faculty members and the Departments of Pediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynaecology have an active cadre of PhD-trained and clinical researchers. The successful candidate is expected to attain regional and/or national funding to pursue an active independent research program focused on pediatric epidemiology, which may include child health, or perinatal research with a focus on neonatal and infant health. They will engage in collaborative research projects with faculty in the 新澳门六合彩开奖 academic community, including clinical faculty within the Departments of Pediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynaecology. The position requires active and committed involvement in teaching residents, fellows, and medical students. The successful candidate will be encouraged to apply for a cross-appointment with the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology or another graduate degree program, which will provide the opportunity for graduate student supervision, teaching, and collaboration. The position involves some contribution to administration and service at the departmental, university, and national levels.

The candidate鈥檚 academic qualifications must include a PhD degree in Epidemiology or a related area with demonstrated evidence of research in pediatric or perinatal health research. The proposed program of research should be in population health research, infectious disease epidemiology, clinical epidemiology, or quantitative health policy evaluation. The candidate must have a demonstrated ability to independently conduct research in their field and have the potential to attain regional and national funding to support that research. The capacity to engage in collaborative projects and expertise using large databases will be considered strong assets.

Teaching experience, enthusiasm, and vision are required.

Position Summary:

Rigetti Computing (based in Berkley, California), through its work with faculty at 新澳门六合彩开奖鈥檚 Department of Mathematics and Statistics, has provided funding for a scholarship for a PhD student or post doctoral fellow who is involved in developing a quantum computer language.

The successful applicant will work on a project entitled "Trusted Quantum Software via a Formally Verified Functional Quantum Programming Language". Specifically, the project will involve the design of a type system for a type-safe functional programming language for quantum computing, loosely modelled on the Quipper language (). It will also involve developing the meta-theory (including categorical semantics) of the language, and eventually the formalization of some of this meta-theory in a proof assistant.

AARMS - Atlantic Association for Research in the Mathematical Sciences

are awarded, on the recommendation of its Scientific Review Panel (SRP), to beginning researchers who received their PhD no more than four years before applying. Applications will be considered from those who anticipate receiving their PhD before the proposed start time of the fellowship, however the PhD must be in hand before actually beginning the fellowship. AARMS will provide $17,500 per year for the fellowship and the supervisor is responsible for organizing matching funds of at least this amount

It is typically expected that the proposed supervisor will not be the same person as the applicant鈥檚 PhD supervisor, and that the proposed Postdoctoral Fellowship will be at a different university than the one at which the PhD was awarded. The proposed supervisor must be a full-time tenure track or tenured faculty member at a university in Atlantic Canada.

Izaak Walton Killam Postdoctoral Fellowships are awarded annually at 新澳门六合彩开奖 to recently graduated scholars of superior academic research ability in any discipline. Awards are tenable for two years and include travel costs, a research grant, and a conference travel allowance.

We are recruiting graduate students and post-doctoral fellows to work on the Computational Biogeochemical Modeling of Marine Ecosystems (CBIOMES) project. CBIOMES is an interdisciplinary, multi-institutional project funded by the Simons Foundation to better understand the biogeography of marine microbes and quantify the relationship between microbial biogeography and elemental cycles using a combination of modelling, statistical analyses of lab and field data, and laboratory experiments. 
We seek several graduate students and post-doctoral fellows to work on two different projects.
